Starting work at 15: the challenges and opportunities according to Rafael, apprentice at PWP<\/h2><\/div><\/div>

At just 15 years of age, Rafael decided to take the plunge into the world of work by starting an apprenticeship as a commercial employee with PWP SA. A native of Avenches, he now shares his experience with sincerity. It's an inspiring account that sheds light on the reality of a young trainee in a dynamic and demanding company.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Why an apprenticeship at such a young age?<\/h5>

Rafael leaves no doubt about his career goal: he wants to become an accountant. To achieve this, he has chosen an apprenticeship as a direct route into the profession.\u00a0\u00abI found out about PWP through orientation.ch. The fact that it's close to where I live and that the learning programme is varied convinced me.\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>

This thoughtful choice reflects a generation that is looking for something concrete, practical and a stimulating learning environment.<\/p>

Entering the professional world: a real change of pace<\/h5>

From the very first days at PWP, the change was radical.\u00a0\u00abIt was complicated at first, especially because of the working hours.\u00bb<\/strong>\u00a0Rafael highlights the striking contrast between school life and working life: longer days, a different structure and new expectations.<\/p>

Fortunately, things moved quickly.\u00a0\u00abAt the beginning, I didn't have many tasks, but over time, I gained more skills and therefore more responsibilities.\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>

Organising between school and company<\/h5>

Reconciling the two worlds is not always easy. Rafael organises his school time outside working hours, in the evenings and at weekends.\u00a0\u00abThe hardest part is really managing the homework and tests on top of the work at the company. But we're adapting.\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>

\u00abWhat has impressed me most is having a professional attitude at all times and taking on responsibility.\u00bb<\/strong>\u00a0In particular, Rafael took part in a project for a supplier (\u00abKinnegrip\u00bb) where he helped to adjust sales prices - a rewarding assignment that really motivated him.<\/p>

Rafael feels at home at PWP. He describes a friendly atmosphere and a real team spirit:\u00a0\u00abMy colleagues support me when I need it, they can count on me to get the job done despite my young age.\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>

He emphasises the autonomy he is given and the absence of unnecessary pressure. This climate of trust seems to be a major driver of his motivation.<\/p>

What next? A clear vision<\/strong><\/p>

Despite his young age, Rafael has a structured vision of his future. He plans to continue with a vocational baccalaureate, still with the aim of becoming an accountant.<\/p>

His advice to those who are hesitating<\/h5>

For young people who still have questions, Rafael is categorical:\u00a0\u00abI'd recommend an apprenticeship rather than going to college. The courses are more accessible, you get paid and, above all, you gain experience.\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>

It also highlights an important point:\u00a0\u00abSome trainers or colleagues in other companies sometimes forget that apprentices are just starting out. You have to be indulgent and supportive, not demand too much all at once.\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>
